PlayLab fills the gap between elite sport and everyday movement

The space where people fall away, lose confidence, or never find their way in. That gap is exactly where we sit, and who we built this for.

Cambridge, Home of Champions

Located at the Grassroots Trust Velodrome in the heart of Waipā, one of New Zealand’s most celebrated sporting regions. This is a place that has produced world champions and Olympic medallists across generations. Sport is in the DNA here. PlayLab is how everyone else gets to be part of it.

What we believe

01

Movement should feel good — not like homework, not like punishment, not like something you have to earn the right to enjoy.

02

The best way to get people active is to stop telling them they’re getting active and start giving them something worth competing at.

03

Sport belongs to everyone. Not just the talented, the trained, or the already confident.

04

When you give people the right environment and the right challenge they surprise themselves every time.

Built with tamariki and rangatahi at its heart.

PlayLab was built with a particular focus on young people who are moving less, spending more time on screens, and increasingly disconnecting from physical activity.

For those kids, PlayLab doesn’t look like sport. It looks like a game. That’s entirely the point.

But PlayLab is for everyone: school groups, families, sports teams, corporates, tourists, and first-timers. The only requirement is showing up.
