Movement disguised as play

Primarily for Years 7–12, PlayLab delivers directly against the NZ Health & Physical Education curriculum, building movement skills, teamwork, communication, resilience, and confidence through ten sport pods and endless gamified challenges.

But here’s the thing: students won’t experience it as curriculum. They’ll experience it as competition. The learning happens because they’re too busy trying to beat each other to notice.

PlayLab is particularly effective for students who have disengaged from traditional sport, those who sit on the sideline, opt out of PE, or have decided sport simply isn’t for them. The gamified format, the team structure, and the fact that every pod is genuinely different means there’s something for everyone. Every student finds their moment.

How a school session works

School groups are organised into teams ahead of arrival. Our system helps you allocate students into groups. On entry, each student is assigned an RFID wristband linked to their name and team. 

At each pod, students tap their wristband to unlock play. Their name, score, and result are recorded automatically and added to their team tally in real time. The leaderboard updates as they play which means the competitive energy takes care of itself.

Self-directed with structure

PlayLab is designed for self-directed play, students move freely between pods, choosing what to try and when. The team points system naturally encourages everyone to attempt every pod, because every score counts. Teachers can facilitate and participate alongside their students, or observe and manage as needed.
